Humanity has always benefited from the oceans. Humans have been eating fish for 90,000 years. Fish used to be an important part of human nutrition. Unfortunately, one has increasingly seen a lucrative business in fish. Since the 16th century, fishing and selling has been a major activity. The industry exploded: larger ships, high-quality technology [...] just to get more fish on board.
But no ecosystem is permanent. For a long time, the ocean has suffered from overfishing, pollution, high bycatch rates, contamination and habitat destruction - all caused by the fishing industry. But not only the oceans are suffering, but also a certain number of people. Developing countries are exploited, people enslaved to work on big fishing ships. The situation is so dire that the oceans may not be able to exist much longer. Since the ocean is our life support system, we will inevitably die with it and never recover.
Action must be taken now. I would like to help with my web story. On the one hand, I want to draw attention to the importance of the oceans, how drastic the situation is and point out the great abuses caused by the fishing industry. On the other hand, I would like to use the formation of a utopia to show how it could be without industry and how it might even function well without it.
